Mission: The Minnesota Home Care Foundation (MHCF, a 501c3 organization; 88-1354124) has several workforce initiatives to help build awareness of home care careers. Our goal is to address a serious shortage of home care workers in home health agencies now reaching crisis proportions across the state, particularly in rural areas. Health care delivery trends to move more care to the home and community will further exacerbate direct care worker shortages unless addressed through a systemic approach. The availability of an adequate supply of caregivers to provide home health services has a direct impact on quality of care and patient outcomes. People want to be cared for at home and the cost of in-home services is far more cost effective than facility-based care. This is why we are excited to announce a fundraising opportunity at the Minnesota Home Care Association’s 55th Annual Meeting! The Annual Meeting is the premier opportunity for home care providers and business partners from across the state to get together for networking, education, and our expo. It will feature multiple sessions on leadership and AI, clinical training and regulatory information, state and federal updates, and a recognition program. Proceeds from a silent auction will go to support workforce awareness initiatives such as our outreach to high school students who are interested in a health care career and nursing students who haven’t been exposed to home care, as a career option. Agencies across Minnesota are understaffed and overstretched, and our workforce campaign is purpose built to bring more students and healthcare employees to meaningful home care careers. You can make an impact in your community today by making a tax‐deductible donation of a prize for this year’s silent auction at the Minnesota Home Care Association’s (MHCA) Annual Meeting. If you’re considering a donation, please submit it by September 16th. Donors whose donated items are valued over $50 will receive name recognition at the MHCA Annual Meeting. I hope you’ll support the community with your generosity today. If you have questions about this opportunity, please contact Micah Eubanks at meubanks@mnhomecare.org or 651.635.0607.
