Mission: MCCI was born of frustration from seeing patients die needlessly from colorectal cancer, which is largely preventable. Its founders, Colon and Rectal Surgery Associates, Minnesota Gastroenterology, and the University of Minnesota Cancer Center came together in a community-wide effort to provide an infrastructure to help clinicians identify and educate people at increased risk for colorectal cancer due to hereditary and other factors. MCCI is a free resource for patients, their family members, and health care professionals. MCCI provides individualized hereditary assessment and information about risk categories and screening/surveillance recommendations. MCCI facilitates research into the causes of colorectal cancer.
