Mission: The mission of the michigan breastfeeding network (mibfn) is to optimize state and community support of breastfeeding by leading collaborative actions for advocacy, education, and coalition building.
Programs: - provided quarterly coalition conference calls with a range from 6-14 coalitions attending. - conducted an advocacy day and luncheon at the capitol for michigan breastfeeding anti-discrimination legislation, with an attendance of over 40 local advocates and 20 representatives and senators or sending representation. - collaborated with the department of community health and local coalitions to provide breastfeeding support groups in three communities. - monthly newsletters were distributed to an email list of over 150 addresses. - started contract work with w k kellogg foundation to develop a landscape analysis survey for kent county, city of flint, and city of detroit.
