Causes: Children & Youth, Youth Development Programs
Mission: To provide scholarships and other learning experiences for youth; to educate youth and support programs for youth about healthy and responsible lifestyles; to educate individuals about all vocations available, to support programs concerned with the welfare of human beings of all kinds throughout the whole span of life and to support those in need; to support programs concerned with improving the honolulu community as a place to live, including environmental matters; and to support programs of an international scope consistent with the purposes above.
Programs: Diamond in the rough scholarship program-four $5,000 scholarships are awarded to students with low high school cumulative grade point averages, but recommended by counselor as having potential and motivation to succeed in college. Financial need is required. These students are often the first in the family to attend college. This program has paid scholarships to 9 college students in the current fiscal year.
