Mission: Metro effect seeks to help people in unreached urban areas know jesus. Unreached urban areas can be portions of cities or entire cities where less than 2% of the population is evangelical christian. To help people know jesus, metro effect leads short term mission trips and empowers missionary partners and local urban christians to tell people about jesus and show people how much jesus loves them in hopes that they will have faith in jesus and develop strong relationships with him.
Programs: In 2017, metro effect led 3 short term trips with about 20 total participants to cities with large amounts of people that are considered unreached with the gospel. The participants and leaders of these trips encouraged about 30 adolescent girls from a home for girls with difficult back grounds and led an easter program for the girls from this home. They met with about 20 adolescent boys in connection with a ministry that seeks to mentor boys and young men to respect women and have good character. They hosted an event for about 30 women from church to encourage them in their faith and give wisdom about how to make disciples. They trained about 10 leaders from 1 church and 1 charitable organization in leadership, teamwork, productivity. They taught the bible to about 70 adults. They taught a 4-day taekwondo camp for about 30 poor children. They taught about 10 women to make decorated spoons to sell to generate income. They taught english to about 30 poor children. They served in music worship ministry in front of about 70 people. They developed a partnership with a charitable organization that started a home with capacity for 30 girls rescued from sex trafficking. Up till now, that organization has housed about 15 girls rescued from sex trafficking. In 2018 and 2019, metro effect plans to have very similar participation and results from short term trips and expand short term trips in 2020 moving forward.
in 2017, metro effect empowered 2 families to live in cities with large amount of people who are considered unreached with the gospel of jesus. These families taught the bible to about 100 adults and 50 children, taught english to about 15 poor women, provided mentorship for about 30 adolescent girls, led worship music about 40 times, mentored about 3 young men, taught about 10 theology classes, encouraged about 10 ministry leaders, hosted christmas and easter events, and served regularly at 2 churches. These long term families also planned and hosted all 3 short term trips that metro effect engaged in in 2017 metro effect hopes to empower 4 additional families to live in unreached cities by 2020 bringing our total to 6 supported families because more families living in unreached cities will be able to host more short term trips and carry on the ministry with consistency and long-term perspective.
metro encouraged and empowered people to go to the passion conference in 2017 and 2018. Because passion is always at the end of the year, some expenses for passion 2018 were paid in 2017. Metro effect mobilizes people to engage in passion because passion aligns very closely with our goals and vision of helping more people follow jesus. Passion participants are inspired to follow jesus more and to consider ways to donate to churches and ministries that help people in unreached places learn about jesus. Participants are also encouraged to consider going on a short term mission trip or move to an unreached place and minister for jesus full-time. As metro effect personnel travel and lodges with participants, it is able to inspire and encourage participants to engage in gospel work above an beyond what participants learn during the conference sessions. Metro effect plans to mobilize participants for passion conference in a similar manner every year.
