Dr.Henry Safrit introduced my family to Meritus. Thanks to him and Meritus supporters lives of numerous youth and their families have been enhanced beyond words.
I am a 2012 Meritus scholar. Meritus has been such a big help throughout my two years college experience. They not only help me financially but in other areas as well. They have connections with internships for the summers and jobs. I can't also go on without mentioning the great staff members that are there to help their students. Overall this program has made a huge impact in my first two years of college.
I am a 2011 Meritus Scholar. Meritus has not only opened many doors for me but it had been an incredible support system. I went through a rough semester and Meritus was always there to support me and check in.
I am a 2013 scholar. To me, Meritus is not just a college fund but a network where I can get financial and support, mentorship and opportunities. It is a great network that has helped me a lot through my college experiences. The check ups boost up my motivation and confidence. I am really thankful for everything Meritus has done for me.

I was a 2008 scholar and current board member. Meritus will always be more than a scholarship fund, it is a college success program, a mentorship, a community of truly amazing donors, scholars, board members, staff, and volunteers.
Thanks to their support, college became a dream come true. After college, I started my own business and now giving back to the community through Meritus and alike nonprofits. I will always remember these words, "It is not our duty to give back, but our privilege". Thank you Meritus, thank you Joyce (my donor), and everyone who encouraged and provided me unconditional support over the years!
The transition to college is an incredibly hard one. Meritus is incredibly supportive of its scholars and is very involved in helping them make smooth transitions. When I get caught up following the crowd, Meritus reminds me to follow my passion. Meritus reminds me that there are people who believe in me when I lack that confidence.
Thanks to Meritus, I didn't have to worry about finances throughout my four years of college. By removing that burden, I was able to focus on my education and graduated in four years. Not only did Meritus helped me financially, but their staff and my donors have helped me emotionally and socially throughout college. They kept up to date with what was going on in my college experience and gave me advice along the way. One of my donors even helped me find an internship right after I got out of college! Without Meritus, I wouldn't be as far as I am today. Thanks everyone!
I love this scholarship! They have helped me so much not just in economical terms but also in terms of building up trust in them and being able to get their help anytime possible. They offer the support that no other non-profit organization has ever given to me. I am so thankful they've become what they've become. I would've never made it to college without Meritus College Fund. They deserve score of 100 in a rating from 1 to 10!

The staff and donors from the Meritus College Fund are the reason why I made it to and through UC Berkeley. As a low-income high school student, my dream of attending college seemed to move further and further away from my grasp as college costs continued to increase. Despite my financial hardships, I was still a driven high school student who was hungry for higher education. I not only excelled in academics but was also actively involved in student government, volunteered at several community events, and educated others about social problems. The Meritus College Fund is a special nonprofit organization that gives hope to those who may feel hopeless. When I found out I was selected as a Meritus Scholar four years ago in 2009, I felt like I had won the lottery - $12,000 for four years is a lot of money!
And the giving doesn't stop there! The staff and donors from the Meritus College Fund bend over backwards for their Scholars. Aside from financial assistance, Meritus provided its Scholars with summer internships, career networking, developmental workshops, and mentorships. They actually care about their Scholars' well-being and check up on us every so often to ensure there aren't any issues. And if an issue does arise, they do not hesitate to help resolve it as quickly and easily as possible. The amount of support that Meritus has shown me is so overwhelming that other organizations don't even come close.
The Meritus College Fund will always be an organization that I will hold close and dear to my heart. They have given me strength when I was at my weakest and believed in me whenever I didn't believe in myself.
