Mission: Dedicated to helping individuals lead mentally healthy lives by delivering hope through advocacy, education and support.
Programs: Client services - monitoring mental health services in lancaster county through board and staff representation in local organizations enabling mental health america of lancaster county to identify gaps in services they are receiving. Our peer educator helps educate on realities of mental illness and recovery in individual and/or group settings. Mental health america of lancaster county provides information and referrals regarding mental illnesses, services and/or issues. Our client family advocate oversees all the support groups and provides individual advocacy to help persons get the mental health services they need.
community education - to educate the community through special programs, volunteer speakers, videos, books, pamphlets and mental health america of lancaster county's newsletter. The organization has a lending library with books, brochures and videos available to anyone in the community. Community education includes educating the general public on topics of mental well being, understanding and resolving anger, the realities of living with a mental illness, good mental health habits, and the importance of humor to mental well being, to name a few. Education also involves specific groups such as high school students, legislators and other decision makers, women in prison, persons living in homeless shelters and support group members.
