Causes: Philanthropy, Public Foundations

Mission: Our mission is to empower the Menomonie Lions, volunteers, and partners to improve health and well-being, strengthen the community, and support those in need through humanitarian services and grants that impact lives locally and globally, and encourage peace and international understanding. The Menomonie Lions Foundation is a 501(c)3 formed to support the Menomonie Lions Club and their mission. The Menomonie Lions Club has been an active part of the community for over 75 years. As one of the largest Lions Clubs in Wisconsin, the Menomonie Lions are always working on a new project or event to support the community. The Menomonie Lions Club is part of Lions Clubs International which consists of over 48,000 clubs and 1.4 million members and is the largest service organization in the world. Some of our projects include: Annual Scholarships for graduating Dunn County High School Seniors, Over 1,000 child vision screenings annually, The Menomonie Lions Game Park and Lion Ted Wiehe Nature Trail, Annual Santa Call-In, Annual Lions Spirit of Christmas supporting children in need, Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Numerous Park Shelters in local parks, Handicap Park Swings in local parks, EyeGlass and Hearing Aid recycling, Annual Roadside Clean-up, Numerous Wheelchair Ramps for local residents, Eye Tissue Transport, Stuff the Bus supporting Dunn County Students, Funding Diabetes Camps, Funding Camps for those with special needs (including Blind or visually impaired, Deaf or hard of hearing, Intellectual Disabilities or Autism, and Epilepsy), Funding Childhood Cancer initiatives, Supporting local food banks, Supporting local charities (Foster Closet, Sleep in Heavenly Peace of Dunn County, etc), Soft Plastic recycling program Some of our causes include: Hunger, Environment, Vision, Diabetes, Childhood Cancer, Hearing, Youth Programs, Community Needs

Part of what the Menomonie Lions does is Vision Screening all the local elementary and preschools in the area. Many children are referred for eyecare due to this screening program. The benefits of early vision detection in preventing vision loss and ensuring children get the most out of their education is incalcuable.
