Causes: Biological & Life Sciences
Mission: The primary exempt purpose of media interchange is to inform the general public about topics related to education, the arts, government, and science and the environment. Our motto is information, involvement and inspiration. Since we collaborate exclusively with non-profit organizations and government agencies, embedded in our process is also education about the use of new media and the trends regarding their use. We are constantly exploring and evaluating new ideas and techniques regarding the use of digital media and how new media can be important components of the efforts undertaken by non-profit organizations and government agencies to involve more people and greater diversity of people. We aim to assist our colleagues to become increasingly competent in delivering this information and we help them to learn about effective methods of distributing their information.
Programs: During 2011, media interchange staff: (1) continued production and distribution of the science and environmental content for thank you ocean report (www. Thankyouocean. Org/podcast/) - 23 audio/video podcasts. (2) continued production of switzer network news for the robert & patricia switzer foundation which consist of news reports profiling the environmental accomplishments and innovations of switzer fellows (www. Switzernetwork. Org/news/podcast) - 15 video podcasts. We provided communications training for new switzer fellows and switzer staff. Our productions have reached tens of thousands of people via the internet. Any numbers we cite in terms of people reached are only estimates; however, it is also clear that the trends in terms of the public's access to digital media has grown substantially and media interchange is riding that trend as well.
