Mission: The mecklenburg county ymca is a charitable, community service organization that includes men, women, and children of all ages, abilities, incomes, races and religions. We are dedicated to building strong kinds, strong families, and strong communities by putting chrisitian principles into practice through programs that promote healthy lifestyles, strong values, leadership development, community interaction, and international understanding. Our mission is "to put christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. "
Programs: The mecklenburg county ymca is a volunteer led public charity that includes men, women and children of all ages, abilities, incomes, races, and religions. The young men's christian association we regard as being, in its essential genius, a worldwide fellowship united by a common loyalty to jesus christ for the purpose of developing christian personality and building a christian society. To accomplish this purpose, this association maintains activities designed to improve the physical and mental health of persons, to train them in christian citizenship and to lead them into a rich spiritual experience. Presently, the mecklenburg county ymca offers youth spring and fall soccer for ages 3 & 4 years old, youth football camp and league, youth basketball, gymnastics, cheerleading camps and leagues, adult duplicate bridge league, adult exercise and yoga classes, as well as free informative health classes and screenings offered in collaboration with local area health care providers. The mecklenburg county ymca services approximately 670 individual participants with approximately 83 volunteers donating 2258 hours of time to the community.
