Target demographics: build trusting relationships that form the basis of social transformation.
Geographic areas served: Orange County, Dutchess County, Ulster County, Sullivan County, Putnam County
Programs: The Navigator program has New York State Certified Health Insurance Navigators support individuals and small businesses in applying and renewing their health insurance through the New York State Marketplace.
The Community Health Advocate (CHA) Program helps individuals keep and use your health insurance benefits, understand medical bills, and obtain discounted medications.
The Youth Services program implements evidence-based youth development and teen pregnancy prevention programs in a variety of settings that have been thoroughly tested and proven to reduce the risk factors associated with teen pregnancies.
The Women's Wellness programs supports women whether they are planning to become pregnant, not thinking about becoming pregnant, or on the fence about pregnancy and parenting. Through our Bilingual Community Health Workers (CHW) we serve women from ages 14 to 48. CHWs can get you connected to services and resources, education, informal counseling, social support and advocacy when you need a helping hand. The Perinatal and Lactation services offer prenatal and childbirth education to parents. We also offer continuing education through the Mid-Hudson Lactation Consortium (MHLC). The MHLC coordinates local coalition activities for World Breastfeeding Week and National Breastfeeding Month, assists with Nursing Mothers Rock and Rest stations at public events, and offers technical assistance for workplaces to improve access for nursing mothers to pump. The consortium also facilitates quarterly professional education/networking meetings as well as a yearly lactation conference.
I am inspired by the work and commitment of the team at MiSN. They are in tune to the needs of their clients in very immediate ways while also being forward thinkers in the ever changing social and economic environments we live in. The MiSN team are advocates for the communities they served. Their ability to stay focused and navigate through the fears and challenges of the current COVID 19 pandemic is exceptional and their work will “continue to build trusting relationships that form the basis of social transformation”.
