I have been on the board of directors for MAFD for 5 years now and it is a small group of hardworking, honest individuals who support swimming because they have/had children who love it. MAFD is supported by the county parks and rec, local businesses and family contributions. Many people come together each year to support summer swimming on our team and the other 20 plus teams in the area.

Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Amateur Sports, Sports, Swimming & Other Water Recreation
Mission: To provide the skills, environment, and opportunity for simmers of all levels to compete in outdoor pools during the summer months. This is supplemental for some year round swimmers and is a second season for those in school swimming and, yet, the ONLY opportunity for some of our swimmers all year to be in a team environment with coaches. We want all the kids to experience individual growth and team unity at the same time.
Results: Been in operation as a team since 1973, with nonprofit status since 2017. Over the years, our team size has ranged from 60 to 220 per season. It has remained just over 100 for the last several years. We were able to keep operating in 2020 via virtual meets to handle COVID compliances. Our numbers have remained steady, but we would love to grow and give more kids this amazing opportunity!
