The Markie Foundation and the Wonderful people behind their mission are truly a blessing to the children and families in need within our communities. They have created a powerful movement in honor of their beloved son. An inspiration to all who have been touched by their passion and devotion to others in need.
Our nephew and niece started this foundation after losing out little Markie. I remember holding him in my arms and watching him smile in his sleep. The angels were loving him even then.
I've been on the Board for The Markie Foundation since its inception. It is run by a tireless and dedicated group of people to help families and children gain access to pediatric palliative and hospice care, and medical respite services. The Markie Foundation financially supports several outstanding entities, including the George Mark Children's House.
I've been contributing to The Markie Foundation since its inception because it is a well-run organization spearheaded by some wonderful people. And of course, its goal of making a difference in the lives of terminally ill children and their families, is not only incredibly noble, but has also been achieved time and again. Kudos to The Markie Foundation for doing its part to bring additional comfort and love into this world!
Very dedicated to their mission of helping and support agencies who provide service for pediatric hospice patients and families . They focus on rais8ng money and 100% of monies go to help agencies.
The Markie Foundation has been such a gift and support to Hinds Hospice. Through the years, they have supported our Angel Babies Perinatal Palliative Care Program and our Pediatric Hospice Program enabling us to provide comprehensive services to children and families. Joe and Janis are such amazing and compassionate parents providing compassion and hope to those new on the journey of caring for a seriously ill child.
Wonderful foundation managed by Wonderful people helping families in need during extremely difficult times. This foundation is full of love.
As the grandmother of "Markie", I am passionate about supporting the Markie Foundation. This foundation continues to be devoted to helping families of sick and dying children. Thousands and thousands of dollars have been raised by hundreds of donors. When the Markie Foundation could not hold its yearly golf tournament this year because of Covid 19, founders Joe and Janis Wuelfing provided a "virtual" zoom event with a toast to this most wonderful organization and everyone involved in its success. May God Bless us with a cure for Covid 19 and let us all pray for the victims and families of this horrific virus.
It is with affection and pride that I write this review. The Markie Foundation was founded by my son, Joe, and daughter-in-law, Janis, to honor their infant son, Markie, who died of an undiagnosed neurological condition when he was only four months old. Catfish Hunter, a deceased baseball player, who died of Lou Gehrig's disease, once said: "The question isn't "Why do bad things happen to good people but what do good people do when bad things happen to them". Joe and Janis took their grief and turned it into doing something good for the sake of other sick and dying children and The Markie Foundation certainly exemplifies this goodness. Numerous children and organizations have been helped through Markie's foundation, which relies on the generous financial donations of many, an annual golf tournament that has raised thousands of dollars for this worthy cause and volunteers who have given endless hours of their time with compassion and love. I have had the privilege of being part of this amazing organization and my heart bursts with love for my baby grandson who helped "Make a difference in the lives of so many". May God bless The Markie Foundation with continued support and success. With Love, Grandma Geri
This is one of the best non-profits I have been able to participate in. The family that runs the program has a personal interest and this makes it more meaningful.
What an amazing nonprofit this is, started and run by two unbelievably generous people....my longtime friends Joe and Janis. I am happy to have been a donor of their nonprofit for a long time, and they continue to amaze me with how many families they have helped. These families are going through what Joe and Janis experienced a long time ago with the tragic death of their infant son, Markie. What a great way to keep his memory alive. I'm so proud of them!
Long-time friend of the founders of this foundation. Loving, compassionate people who've raised tens of thousands of dollars to help childhood cancer victims. I donate annually.
I have known and worked with the Markie Foundation and they're the real deal. Every dollar donated is done so with love, in memory of Markie to benefit hundreds of families enduring the treacherous journey of caring for a seriously ill or dying child.
The Markie Foundation has been extremely responsive to the needs of our nonprofit serving children with life-limiting illnesses and their families. They have taken the time to get to know our mission and generously funded projects that directly help ill children and families. Additionally, the Markie Foundation is raising awareness about the journey traveled by families who experience the loss of a child. I am a huge fan of the Markie Foundation.
The Markie Foundation has been an incredible supporter and advocate for George Mark Children's House, contributing tens of thousands of dollars and helping to raise much needed awareness for our mission. We are grateful for their ongoing support of the children and families we serve.
Great organization, better people and a fantastic cause!
Fantastic organization and cause. Love the Markie Foundation team.
The Markie Foundation has continuously kept us updated with what the are working on and contributing towards. gph
I have supported this organization since the beginning. I was one of the nurses who cared for Markie. They have turned this very painful life event to honor and respect their son, Markie. Markie’s parents and family totally honor Markie over the many years by providing funds for families who sadly are in a hospice/palliative care with their child. The funds provide education and badly needed support for these families. Who better understands this need then one who experienced this painful life experience. They not only do this they do it so well with emotional and financial help. I am proud to donate to this program every year.
The Markie Foundation has done and continues to do so much good for terminally ill children and their families. Through tireless efforts and many generous donors, the Markie Foundation helps provide much needed services and comfort to these families who are suffering through illness and loss, including funding for hospice and palliative care related services, sibling bereavement programs, support for the George Mark House, and more. As parents who have personally suffered through such trauma with the loss of their infant son Markie, founders Joe and Janis have so much compassion and empathy for the recipients of these services, and have put so much love and hard work into this cause in order to bless the lives of so many. Many family members, including their own children, have joined the effort over the last 20 years to help aid the success of this great organization, and it’s been awe-inspiring to see what this beautiful foundation has accomplished in honor of sweet Mark “Markie” Warren Wuelfing.
Great organization. Never any question about where the money goes, only to carefully screened children's hospice programs.
Great cause, and great people. It’s great to see the Markie Foundation make a difference for families with child hospice care needs.
The Markie Foundation has been supporting children’s hospice non-profit causes for 20+ years, changing lives along the way. The organization is dedicated to delivering resources needed to families in need.
The Markie Foundation is a special organization with an overwhelming amount of generous people supporting the cause. It's heartwarming to know The Markie Foundation's efforts are making a difference in the lives of terminally ill children and their families, in honor of baby Mark Warren Wuelfing.
Through its fundraising activity and strong donor participation, The Markie Foundation is helping to raise awareness and support for children's hospice and palliative care -- a unique area of need for families with a terminally ill child. Since its inception, the organization has had a tremendous impact on others in honor of a very special boy, Markie. We are grateful for all those who are helping to make a difference!
The Markie Foundation has been raising awareness and funds for a host of very worthy, and underrepresented, causes for over 20 years. I'm proud to be a part of their efforts.
I had the honor of being one of Markie Wuelfing's nurses when his parents, Joe and Janis, brought him to our Pediatric unit in 1999. Over the next several months, Markie suffered horribly, and his loving family suffered with him. When our hospital could no longer help him, Markie went home to be with his family and had wonderful hospice nurses. After he passed, his parents wanted to help other families caring for terminally ill children. They created the Markie Foundation. Over the last 20 years Joe, Janis, and there families have worked tirelessly, and have raised a lot of money that has eased those families suffering while caring for their ill kids. Joe, Janis and their foundation are the epitome of selflessness, and they deserve to be recognized. Pediatric Hospice is the most underserved area of patient care in the U.S. Thank you for offering this forum to share about great nonprofits like the Markie Foundation. Sheila Tyne, RN
The Markie Foundation is such a wonderful organization, Keeping the memory of a loved one, while helping others at the same time! The coping with the loss of a loved one is such a giant hurdle to overcome, and to use it as a healing method and to help others, is such a wonderful thing! Great Job! Keep it going!
The good works of the Markie Foundation our important to our communities and those who have a terminally ill child. The Markie Foundation is well organized and operated by caring, compassionate individuals of the foundation.
The Markie Foundation is a wonderful non-profit organization that is helping to bring awareness to and fund pediatric hospice programs as well as sibling bereavement programs. The Markie Foundation has provided funding to many terrific programs over the years and is very involved with the George Mark House in the Bay Area that serves terminally ill children and their families. For many years, there was not a strong pediatric hospice focus, and the Markie Foundation has helped to bring these support services to many families that otherwise may not have received them. Joe and Janis Wuelfing and the Markie Foundation Board of Directors have huge hearts for the work that they do, and the Markie Foundation continues to honor the short life of sweet Mark Warren Wuelfing.
I've been involved with the Markie Foundation since its inception. Janis and Joe Wuelfing founded the organization to help other families with terminally ill children through pediatric hospice, after their own son, Mark, died as an infant. The Markie Foundation is "small but mighty," successfully drawing attention to the need for greater access to pediatric hospice and palliative care, and identifying and funding superior organizations that provide direct services and care to children and their families. Over the past 20 years, the Foundation has supported organizations such as the George Mark Children's House the first freestanding pediatric palliative care center in the United States, to expand services and provide programs to families in need. The Foundation's primary fundraiser is an annual golf tournament, which every year draws new faces as well as its constant supporters. is supported by a dedicated group of family members and friends who work tirelessly to keep Mark's spirit alive by helping others.
The Markie Foundation has provided a three generational point of inspiration for our family. The Wuelfing family have enabled my mother, my daughters and my wife and I to participate in such a worthy effort to support families in the most difficult periods of there life.
Tremendous organization that maintains such a consistent level of engagement with their community of stakeholders (donors, volunteers. Board, etc.) resulting in sustained and impactful help to their foundation's beneficiaries.
My family is so proud to be a small part of this effort.
