Causes: Arts & Culture, Arts & Humanities Councils & Agencies
Mission: The mission of the Manchester Municipal Arts Commission is to foster, promote and encourage the development of the arts in Manchester and the surrounding areas.
Programs: We usually offered six theater performances each year. All of these performances were held at the Manchester Arts Center. However, since the fire, we have had performances at local schools and at Bear Hollow Theatre in Monteagle. These were performed by Millennium Repretory Company, Teen Actors Guild, and Wee Actors Guild.
Since moving into our new building, which is still being renovated, we have had performances beginning in May of '09, "Seussical, the Musical," "Ruthless," "Always...Patsy Cline," and have just completed "All Shook Up." Missoula Children's Theatre performance was held in July and returned in July 2010 and Wee Actors Guild (WAG,) performance of "Alice in Wonderland" Broadway Jr. version. The TAG group held coffee shops and held a performance of "Sweeny Todd" in July.In December we had a choral group which drew 3 sold out performances. A Gospel Fest opened May 22. June saw the performance by the International Folk Fest performers.In addition we have had water color classes which lasted for 5 weeks, a pastel workshop and continue to have art exhibits.
