Mission: Lighthouse of manasota's mission is to educate and empower those affected by vision loss so they may enjoy happy, healthy and independent lives.

Programs: Independent living adult programs - provides training in skills that promote self-sufficiency and independence in the lives of individuals who have vision loss. Clients learn the "how to" in going about their daily activities such as preparing meals, shopping, managing money, marking appliances and writing checks, etc. The instructions are key components that help to leading an independent life.

vocational rehab program - trains blind and visually impaired adults in computer skills, job readiness skills, and orientation and mobility skills to assist in job placement.

vocational rehabilitation transition program - students, ages 14-22 with visual impairment, receive training and support to transition to college, trade schools or general employment. Instructors help them identify their talents and special interests to begin planning life goals.

1. Early intervention/blind babies program - provides early intervention services to the families of blind/visually impaired infants and toddlers from birth through five years. Instructors assess and measure functional skills to facilitate growth and development. Expenses - $87,709. 2. New children's program described above. Expenses - $96,625.

NAC is the only accrediting body that solely focuses on standards and best practices for blind and low vision services with the consumer in mind. Lighthouse of Manasota has demonstrated that it meets or exceeds the standards set by NAC for delivery of blind and low vision services. The determination for accreditation is a rigorous process that involves self-examination by the organization, an on-site peer review to verify processes and procedures by a team of professionals serving in the field and a review of the findings by the NAC Accreditation Committee. NAC congratulates Lighthouse of Manasota on its accredited status.
