Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Autism, Disabilities, Education, Health

Mission: To increase autism awareness and provide resources to families of autistic children

Results: We've helped countless families and individuals with autism in a wide variety of ways. We do the very best we can to help those who reach out to us, no matter what their immediate needs may be. We've donated more than 450 iPads for kids with autism for communication. We've sent hundreds of kids to Equine Therapy. We've helped hundreds of families get proper IEP help for their kids as well as help schools to better serve those children. We've provided legal help to those who couldn't afford it when their child's rights have been violated. We're working on education plans for kids from Preschool through College, to best prepare them to be happy, healthy, productive, and independent members of society to the very best of their potential and ability. We're also working with employers who have the vision to see the potential of individuals with autism and to develop programs within their companies to fill their workforce needs, using the strengths of those individuals. It's difficult to list everything we've done and continue to try to do .

Target demographics: Our primary focus is to help children and young adults with autism and their families.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Last year, we helped countless families in a wide variety of ways, from iPads, to IEP Advocacy, to Legal Help, to camps, seminars, Therapy Robots, weighted blankets, Equine therapy, etc..

Geographic areas served: We are based in Central Ohio, but help kids all over the Country.

Programs: Our venture with OutRun Autism 5K, has more than 750 participants, and is growing more every year. In 2018, we're working with the Columbus Zoo to provide a "Family Day" for all participants and families affected by autism . Our Car Show raises funds each year for autism therapy and social programs for kids with autism. The event increases autism awareness for all who attended the event.

Our Arnold Classic Fundraiser has provided funds for autism study, autism camps, advocacy programs, seminars, therapy dogs, and installation of a playground at an autism facility.

Our Motorcycle Ride benefits educational services, and the purchase of more than 450 iPads distributed to each school for their students, as well as providing summer camps, advocacy services, and legal help for those who need it.

Our Cookies For iPads Program is a joint venture between us and Chery'ls Cookies. Together with their help, we now have a program in place that will allow schools and individual families earn iPads or therapy robots for their schools Special Education Department, to reach as many kids as possible and provide them with the tools they need to communicate with the outside world. All of these things have also allowed us to send over 300 kids to equine therapy at Stockhands Horses For Healing. It's been an amazing program thus far, and we intend to keep it going.

Amazing group of dedicated and passionate people looking to create more awareness for children, adults, and families with autism. They have personally made a huge impact on our family, and we are so grateful! They provide resources for those who may not be able to access them on their own and by hosting fun events, spread awareness in our community. Thank you, Make it Fit!!

Make It Fit is such an amazing organization. They do such amazing things for children and families touched by Autism. Some examples are supporting individuals in their attempts to throw special events for children so they can have fun just like neurotypical kids, Providing equine therapy for kids, and Partnering with my organization to pay for weighted blankets for kids. The Make It Fit Foundation does the most amazing things for autistic people as well as for the autism community. They use their platform to really help and educate the public. I am so glad that they exist. It means a lot to me as a parent of an autistic child.

I became involved with The Make It Fit Foundation in an unusual way a little more than two year's ago. It is too hard to put into words my love for this all volunteer organization. They do great things in a fun and inclusive way, never losing focus of what their mission is. The attached pictures are from the 2017 Ohio Ride for Autism. #ItsfortheKids

The Make it Fit Foundation has been a huge blessing to our family, especially to my son Evan who is autistic. They covered all costs to put him in horse therapy not once but twice. Then when our public school wasn't helping him they gave us resources for finding a great private school in our area that has helped my son really excel in and grow in so many ways. If we have trouble navigating through department of disabilities they have always been willing to help us whenever we needed it. The foundation is truly a blessing and with out all their help I don't want to think where my son would be today.

It's very difficult finding good advocacy in southern Ohio, but when I called upon the Make it Fit Foundation they came to help my son Nate and finally get services that he has needed in school all his life. He is now 18, nonverbal, and a wonderful kid all around that got tagged in a school setting as being Unteachable and aggressive. In the home setting he does so much better....getting his needs met. Thank you Mike Hoover, Melissa Satterfield, Becca Eslinger, Jenn Pilcher, and Brad Keaton for accepting the challenge of Nate and delivering on his needs.

I have volunteered for The Make it Fit Foundation for a few years now. The hard work, love and dedication that goes into everything they do makes you want to work just as hard with them. They never stop. They are an amazing group of people who love the kids and families that they are helping and will not stop till they help everyone. Every time I help it reminds me why I do what I do and why I am there. It pushes me to work harder. There is no other Foundation that works harder for kids and families with autism. You can see the love, the hard work and the heart that goes into everything they do. I am honored every time I volunteer and and around such wonderful people. Thank you Make It Fit.
