Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Community & Neighborhood Development, Economic Development
Mission: A volunteer-based organization whose goal is to enhance community identity, foster activity and promote business opportunity downtown by encouraging historic preservation, coordinating events creating community. Founded in 1991, we partner with residents, business and property owners, and town government to educate through organization, design, promotions an economic developement initiatives, creating a destination for shopping, dinning, business, arts and culture.
Programs: Design committee: capitalizing on the villages best assets such as historic buildings and traditional downtown layout. We serve in an advisory role on redevelopment projects, providing design reviews of developers' building plans and influencing scale, density, materials and landscaping. We also participate in village street-scape and improvement projects and sign ordinance reviews and changes. The design committee has made great progress in sign and lighting improvements through the fronts program, a matching grant program that we administer for the village.
organization committee: with an organizational structure of a board and committees, we strive to build consensus and cooperation among the groups that have an important stake in the downtown. The development arm works to raise awareness and funds so we can continue to provide the services that are important to carrying out our mission.
promotions committee: forging a positive image of the villages unique characteristics to shoppers, investors, new business and visitors. All events and promotions that we undertake fulfill the objective of bringing people into our downtown, including farmers market, concerts, halloween festival, and holiday open house.
