Mission: Influenced by christ, lyngblomsten provides a ministry of compassionate care and innovative services to older adults in order to preserve and enhance their quality of life.
Programs: Lyngblomsten community services focuses on the "whole person and helps enable older adults to remain living in their own homes and apartments as they wish through free and low-cost services. These services are accessed through community life enrichment centers called 2nd half with lyngblomsten. Located in the 5-5-1 zip code areas, 2nd half with lyngblomsten life enrichment centers connect adults ages 50 to 100+ to community services, resources, and opportunities to enhance their quality of life. Offerings focus on education and the arts; health, wellness, and spirituality; social and outings; resources and support; and service opportunities. One center is hosted on the lyngblomsten campus in the como park neighborhood of st. Paul, and a second is hosted at redeemer lutheran church in white bear lake. - more than 1,171 contacts were made through outings/trips, educational programs, classes, free help with tax preparation (in partnership with aarp), fine arts events and workshops, wellness-related support, and more. - care team ministry served hundreds of persons in their homes through 10 church-based teams of volunteers who helped with non-medical activities such as light housekeeping, yard work, transportation, and friendly visits. - the parish nurse ministry resource group provided education and support to nurses from more than 20 member faith communities. Two congregations received grants (through the lyngblomsten foundation) to help start a new parish nurse program or to enhance their current programs. - caregiver services directly served more than 200 persons through the gathering, a group respite program for persons living with memory loss and their caregivers; memory loss caregivers support groups; and one-on-one caregiver coaching. Three hundred gathering and support group volunteers gave nearly 14,100 hours of service. - community services also received national recognition for providing outstanding community services and support to people with memory loss and their caregivers through the gathering. The brookdale foundation group awarded lyngblomsten the rose dobrof award. A monetary award accompanying the honor will be directed to ongoing financial support for the continued offering of dignified, enriching programming through the gathering. - the transportation coordinator supported community services programs and lyngblomsten housing by coordinating rides on the lyngblomsten bus for various outings, events, and appointments. Lyngblomsten home health services provided in-home health and assisted living services to 149 persons living in lyngblomsten housing in 2017. Companion care-an affordable service to help lyngblomsten housing tenants continue living in their own apartments-provides comfort, security, and companionship for tenants during their most stressful times of the day. In 2017, companion care staff provided more than 1,400 hours of care. Collaboration and well-coordinated service with lyngblomsten's transitional care unit (tcu) at the care center helps tenants using the tcu transition smoothly back to their homes.
