Mission: Lutheran Children's Home Society (aka Bremwood Lutheran Services, aka Bremwood Lutheran Children's Home) was established in 1864 in Andrew, Iowa as a home for children orphaned by the Civil War. A Lutheran pastor took these children into his home, and as the numbers grew, an orphanage was built. In 1900, the Home moved to Waverly, Iowa where it continued its outreach to orphaned and vulnerable children. In 1953, we changed our focus to meet the changing needs of children and families and became the first psychiatric residential treatment center in Iowa for troubled children. Today we are a state-of-the-art organization, with the highest standards of quality, providing a full array of in-home, educational, and residential services and support to children and families throughout the state of Iowa.
