Mission: The Greater Florida Chapter is the largest Florida chapter under the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc., serving 47 counties. This area stretches across central and northeastern Florida.Our chapter is an all-volunteer organization, with dedicated men and women serving in communities throughout the chapter area. Most volunteers are also coping with lupus in addition to assisting others who have the disease. We are working very hard to educate people about lupus. You will be glad to know 90% of our tax-deductible gifts go directly to research and local program services and not for administrative costs.
Programs: The Greater Florida Chapter hands out more than 5000 pamphlets annually on lupus related illness.We respond to over 1200 inquiries by phone and mail. We have 20 support groups with trained facilitators. We counsel individuals on social security disability; we have education programs for the newly diagnosed patients; as well as education programs for medical professionals. Our clients are lupus patients, their families and friends and medical professionals.
