Causes: Education, Scholarships, Scholarships & Student Financial Aid
Mission: Annual promotion/production of an air show for the county of los angeles, featuring active/passive displays of aeronautical engineering, aerobatic performances and aircraft. Encourage/support academic success in the fields of mathematics, science, engineering and technology to advance aeronautical achievement and to honor the history of military and civilian aviation and space exploration.
Programs: The benefits from the los angeles county air show (lacas) are comprehensive and extensive. Area college students benefit from lacas through the award of scholarships to those majoring in stem-related studies. Volunteer groups who participate in staffing concession activities earn funding for their respective organizations. Volunteer groups earn a guaranteed minimum, with the potential for supplemental funding, based upon the aggregate volume of concession sales during the air show. Regional students also benefit: in coordination with regional middle schools and high schools, lacas conducts an education outreach to promote the importance of pursuing stem careers. Targeted outreach generates enthusiasm, among impressionable students, of the critical national requirement for stem professionals. The community benefits through the perpetuation of passionate advocacy for the regions aviation heritage; the infectious enthusiasm of common effort to deliver a nationally acclaimed regional event; and the honor and appreciation shown to servicemen and women assigned at california military installations. The regional economy and businesses benefit from the economic impact commensurate with the planning, resourcing and execution of a national-level air show attended by more than 100,000 people. The resultant impact on the regional economy is a noticeable spike in regional economic activity at hotels, restaurants, and service providers during the weeks prior to and during the air show.
