I had worked with another rescue for three years some times fostering up to 42 dogs at a time. Was alway made to feel i was never doing enough that I had no life that was outside the rescue.
With this group the dogs come first and fore most. We all work to see they all get a better life. That each dogs have love both from us and the adopters. We do not turn down dogs that are mixes or older. It is understood the older ones maybe with us fosters for the rest of their lives no one turns them down. We work as a team everyone helping everyone. The dogs are better cared for with this group and the fosters love the dogs you can tell just talking with them. it isn't are fast in and out we work with the dogs to insure they are ready for adoption.
Paige is one of the most understanding leader she stays in touch with her group each and everyone of us. Always leading a hand when needed. Without this group I would of left rescue a year ago.

Great pyrnees our are favorite dogs. We had a brother and sister pair for 7 years and then Morgan died of bone cancer. His sister Mandy and we missed him terribly. After a few months, Mandy was still mourning so we decided to go looking for another Pyr. And or course a rescue is the place to go. We saw some of the Pyrs that LSPP had listed and talked with Paige about taking in a foster. She brought us young male (soon to be called Dakota). Needless to say, he smooshed his way in everyones heart. Paige helped us decide what we needed to do and that was adopt Dakota. LSPP is a great rescue and when we are ready for another Pyr we will be adopting from LSPP. Paige goes above and beyond to help the dogs and could really use more assistance to save more of these great dogs..

Lone Star Pyrs and Paws has worked tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate and adopt Great Pyrenees as well as other dogs that have been abandoned in shelters.
My first experience was contacting this group to see if they would accept an Anatolian Shepherd that was scheduled to be euthanized in the City of Houston Animal Shelter (BARC). This dog, Strider was thin (probably 30 pounds underweight), some skin issues, had a respiratory infection and was a 5 hour drive away from the home base of this rescue.
Even with all these issues, the director agreed to take Strider into rescue as he was within 24 hours of being euthanized. Once in rescue he was vetted, well fed and loved. Then eventually adopted to a home and family.
Sadly, the state of Texas has a large number of Great Pyrenees and other guardian dogs like the Anatolian Shepherds placed in shelters. There dogs are commonly used by farmers and ranchers here who often do not bother to spay and neuter, so many end up in kill shelters.
I now volunteer for Lone Star Pyrs and Paws in hopes of assisting wth getting these magnificent dogs to homes where they will be loved and cared for.

This group does some fantastic work for dogs all over. They do their very best to save every animal in shelters near and far that is close to its time. When they don't have the ability to save an animal, they find someone who does. Their network of fosters and animal lovers and caregivers is a wonderful group of people just doing all they can to help out.
