Mission: Betterment of the community through education, cultural, social, athletic or other programs offered to the residents of the mountain community, which roughly corresponds to the boundaries of the loma prieta joint union school district.
Programs: The organization operates one major program, theatre in the mountains. Theatre in the mountains provides a place of the community to enjoy plays and theater events in the loma prieta community center. The theater program is extended to students in the school district. This year three school based productions were presented and preparations were made for a summer adult program and a children's theater camp.
the organization supports projects to improve the facilities, playgrounds and athletic fields that are used by the schools and the community. It assists local emergency preparedness and response efforts by providing supplies and equipment. The organization works with the los gatos-saratoga recreation and community education department to see that recreation programs are provided in the mountain community which this year served more than 500 participants. This year a grant of $10,405 was made to support these recreation programs. The foundation also encourages community participation in fundraising and community development. The foundation sponsored the mountain residents' night out, which brought 180 community members together with representatives of various public safety agencies. This year the organization led a major fundraising drive to fund the purchase of a water tender for the loma prieta volunteer fire dept. It has raised $258,302 for this purpose. It is expected that all these funds will be paid out in the next fiscal year, when the fire engine is delivered.
the organization took over operation of the building blocks co-op preschool in may 2015. Prior to that it supported the preschool by funding program enhancing art and other supplies, as well as facility improvements such as playground and equipment. The foundation encourages community participation in program development for the preschool.
