Living In Liberty

Programs: Living in liberty's unique faith-based residential program provides comprehensive holistic aftercare for females of commercial sexual exploitation. The liberty home served 4 women this fiscal year. Staffing was maintained 24-7 and filled with volunteers in specialized fields. Continuing education and training was offered monthly. Core volunteer team enabled in-depth case management and broadened service coordination with local resource networks.

living in liberty is increasing the general public's awareness of sexual exploitation worldwide, nationwide, and within the greater pittsburgh area, and thereby helping to prevent sex trafficking. It accomplishes these goals through speaking engagements, informational and educational displays, social networking, specific group training, and its presence in the community through its thrift stores. During the fiscal year, just under 5,000 individuals were informed through these presentations and countless customers of the thrift stores have also been informed of the sex trafficking issue.

living in liberty's outreach team seeks to build relationships with women caught in prostitution on the streets. During the fiscal year, 3 inner city pittsburgh neighborhoods were reached. Outreach in homewood, pa includes a drop-in center open on saturdays where the women are provided gently used clothing from the thrift store, showers, hygiene products, laundry services, and food. More than 15 women in this location were helped through the drop-in and street outreach during the fiscal year. Outreach on the northside of pittsburgh includes a care center where women are provided clothing, showers, hygiene products, laundry services and food, and where relationships are built to help these women by restoring dignity and hope.
