Mission: A locally governed community action agency, which engages in making life better by providing opportunities, which empower people to improve the quality of life and address the causes and effects of poverty in southern indiana.
Programs: During 2017, the headstart program provided comprehensive education, medical, nutrition, health and social services for a funded enrollment of 371 preschool children served through 15 class sessions located in seven centers throughout crawford, harrison, perry, and spencer counties.
during 2017, 57 families in crawford, perry and spencer counties received home weatherization services. All homes received basic energy conservation services which reduces long term energy bills. In the energy assistance program, 1,240 low income disabled and elderly households (2,267 individuals) received assistance in payment of their winter heating bills; 1,215 families received assistance with their summer utility bills.
during 2017, the state section 8 program provided housing assistance payments to 308 low income individuals in crawford, gibson, spencer, vanderburgh and warrick counties.
