Causes: Human Service Organizations, Human Services, Transportation Assistance
Results: The Lift Garage is a 501c3 nonprofit aimed to move people out of poverty and homelessness by providing low-cost car repair, free pre-purchase car inspections, and honest advice that supports our community on the road to more secure lives. Since opening in 2013, we have served over 1900 customers and completed over 3,600 repairs. Our community has helped us save customers over $1.7 million dollars on repair costs. Through our generous support from our community, we have grown to meet the incredible demand for low cost, quality car repair in our community. Their support lead us from repairing 4 cars each month when we first opened, to now servicing an average of 115 cars for Minnesotans and their families each month.

Programs: AUTO REPAIR SERVICES: We charge only $15 per hour plus the cost of parts at no mark-up. Our goal is getting cars safe and back on the road, so we work on brakes, tires, suspension and steering, starting and charging systems, fuel systems, exhaust systems, and heating and cooling systems (not air conditioning). PRE-PURCHASE INSPECTIONS: If you’re considering buying a used car, we offer free inspections to help explore any issues that may already exist with the car. CAR CARE CLASS: On the second Saturday of each month, we offer a free basic car care class. EXPRESS SERVICE: On Fridays from 10:00 AM to Noon, we offer drop-in repairs for exterior bulb replacement, windshield wiper replacement, and battery inspection & replacement.
