Best education you can give a young child. I sent two girls to Lial. They received the best foundation, education, moral compass and experiences at Lial. Have lifetime friends from Lial that are now attending each other's weddings!

I am a girl with autism. Until I started school at Lial I felt alone and as if I was always going to be having acceptance concerns. As a quiet autistic student and also a nonverbal student, I felt sad. At Lial I have indeed experienced acceptance and respect like every other student. I always wanted an education and I am happy that I am learning like all the students. And I have friends who like me as really I am. They are understanding and face me in kindness and grace. The teachers treat me the same as all the other kids in class. I am hugely honored to be a student at Lial.

We found this amazing small school set back in a beautiful wooded area. We enrolled our son at Lial in 2012 in the readiness program. Small class size with two teachers. We instintly fell in love with the school and decided to make the 40 minute drive one way to send our son there. Seven years later and we are still making the 40 minute drive and now have a daughter enrolled. We love the small class size with mixed grades and it’s wonderful to see our kids not only learn from their teachers but their older peers and at the same time become great leaders for kids in the classroom.

Lial Catholic School has been a tremendous foundation for my three children. Beginning with Sister Mary Kent in readiness to many other favorite teachers through 8th grade, they received a first rate education that equipped them well for high school. More importantly, they learned Christian values, and were expected practice those values. Lial is an extended family for us, a tremendous support always.

We couldn’t love this little school in the woods more. Above Lial’s faith and academic core, Sister Pat and the entire staff truly do grow respectful minds with an appetite for kindness and responsibility.

We love Lial and have had nothing but positive experiences with the staff. It’s a real family environment at Lial. We’re especially grateful for the scholarships available to assist us in sending our son to, in our opinion, the best school in the area.

Lial Catholic School excels at encouraging, challenging and educating children. The school recognizes that children learn and grow differently and tries very hard to adapt educational approaches to meet the needs of each student. Students are taught the importance of social justice and giving back to your community. Our family is very pleased with our experience at Lial Catholic School and encourages other families to enroll their children.

I can't say enough about Lial Elementary. My heart will always remain with this little piece of academic heaven in the country! I moved to Monclova from Toledo with a two year old in 1990. I didn't realize this little Catholic school was only 3 miles from my doorstep. I sent my oldest daughter their for Readiness through 8th grade, starting when she turned 4. She flourished there. The academics and social aspect went above and beyond. She achieved an excellent education, learned leadership, organizational skills, unbelievable study skills, sports/team skills and more. Her best friends are still the seven girls she went through Lial with. They continued to have sleepovers twice a year all the way through college. Still get together during their professional careers, even though they are scattered around the USA!

My youngest daughter joined her older sister at Lial five years later. She also achieved all of the academics, experiences and character building that my oldest received. They have both gone onto private high schools and colleges and medical school. However, Lial is still the organization that will forever be in our hearts and contributions financially. If you are lucky enough to have your children attend this school you are truly blessed!

Both our children started in this school last year. Immediately we felt part of the Lial family. And when one of our children had difficulty in the classroom they created a plan tailored to him and his interest that turned his learning experience around completely. Their genuine care for each child's success is evident and present in every aspect of this school.

Lial [Lee-al] is truly the most unique learning environment in the Greater Toledo area, and the campus is truly something special. Set deep in the woods of the Oak Openings region, with large wall-to-wall windows in each unit, an outdoor classroom, a grotto in the woods, and a beautiful natural playground, the campus is truly something special. It backs right up to the beautiful, brand new Sisters of Notre Dame convent right next door, to which the community is tightly connected. The education of the whole person is integral to the curriculum at Lial. My children are able to achieve their personal best, and are not compared to their peers, they move at their pace, learn how THEY learn best, and this is all accomplished due to the very nature of the continuous progress model curriculum and the phenomenal staff that orchestrate this and support my children every step of the way. If my child excels in Total Language, but needs more support and needs to move at a slower pace in Math, for example, he can be working on language skills at one level and math skills at a completely different level. He is not limited to what he can achieve based on his age nor being in a certain grade. He is challenged at his level every day in every subject. Since Lial’s classrooms are multi-age, this also means that the peer mentoring relationship is a big part of the learning experience, which many studies have proven to be a highly effective methodology. I absolutely love the fact that Lial is only one of a few select schools in the Greater Toledo area that begins world language study at the Pre-K level, unlike other private schools who do not begin world language instruction until upper elementary. The values taught at Lial and the way they are seamlessly weaved into the curriculum on a daily basis is beautiful. I have seen a marked change in my oldest son after attending Lial for just two years now. My other two children are in the Readiness program (Pre-K/Kindergarten). The high-caliber faculty at Lial is excellent and consistently goes above and beyond to make sure that my children are getting the best experience possible and my children absolutely love their teachers and have a special relationship with each of them. The teachers get to know their students very closely which allows them to serve the students in the best way possible. I love the fact that, from Pre-K forward, my children have Art, Music, World Language, Technology, Gym, and Library with the best loved librarian in the world every week and even more often as they move up in units. At the Middle School level, my children will have the option of taking electives in all of these areas so that they can focus in on what they love and improve their skill set in certain subjects they are passionate about. There are so many reasons why Lial is affectionately called ‘the little school in the woods’. It is the most loving, welcoming, and supportive community (with top notch academics, and an incredibly well-rounded curriculum) that I have found after thoroughly researching and interviewing 13 different schools in the Greater Toledo area. We absolutely love our Lial!!
