I have had the honor of volunteering with LRTC, the most active highly trained group of technical large animal rescue team in Northern Nevada, since 2020.

We work around the clock 365 days a year to help keep wild horses & the public safe by responding the calls of horses on or near roadways, injured horses, & other concerns that come in from our 24/7 hotline (775-352-3944).

Additionally, we assist in technical rescues and evacuation of domestic animals in cases of wildfires, floods, downed or escaped pet horses, and more.

We train year round to practice our technical skills with experts in the field and fellow first responders such as animal control, sheriff’s and fire departments.

We also participate in public events, such as Dayton Valley and Washoe Valley Days, to spread awareness and outreach to connect with our communities.

Personally, I have served on the Foal Response team in responding to calls of baby horses in distress across the Virginia Range outside Reno, Nevada.

I have even adopted one of our orphan foals (mother was hit and killed by a vehicle) at 10 days old. Braveheart is now a happy, healthy, well rounded 2.5 year old who was raised by amazing group of volunteers.

LRTC is a non profit organization of highly trained dedicated hard working volunteers who do our best to keep our wild horses and the public safe.

Least Resistance Training Concepts (LRTC) is an all-volunteer, non-profit. We were founded in 1999 and serve all of north-western Nevada. One hundred percent of our funding comes from donations and grants, we do not receive any government financial support. LRTC works in three principal areas: On a daily basis (573 times in 2023), some part of our 50 trained volunteer rescue technicians assist law and the public by moving one or more of the 3,300 Virginia Range wild horses to safety and away from roads and freeways, When natural disasters such as wildfires & flooding strike we coordinate with state and local government to provide emergency evacuation and sheltering services for domestic large animals, Lastly we provide technical rescue services for both wild and domestic large animals when they become trapped or badly injured.

Least Resistance Training Concepts is an awesome organization based in Stagecoach, NV. They provide continued education and mentoring, training assistance to the adopters of horses, wild and otherwise. Some of the members of this organization participate in large animal evacuation during fires and other emergency situations. They work with local fire, law enforcement and any other agencies that require assistance with animal rescue, whether it be in the private sector or with wild horses. They have rescue and rehab projects, some of which specialize in orphan and/or newborn foals, and critically injured foals or horses. They work with and gentle horses of all ages, from newborns to adults.
