Mission: At the learning community we believe that literacy
Programs: The learning community is an innovative urban public school serving central falls, providence, and pawtucket ri in grades k-8. The learning community is a high poverty, high achieving school that believes deeply in the voices of teachers,students and families. We are committed to high standards, critical thinking, and strong family engagement. We currently serve over 500 students in our school and hundreds of teachers and students in the schools where we work as professional development partners. We are committed to strengthening our nation's public education system by sharing what works through targeted work with districts, schools and classroom teachers. This work fulfills our bold mission: at the learning community, we believe that literacy empowers each individual to have a voice, assume community responsibility and take social action. We expect leadership at every level. We grow teacher leaders, student leaders, and community leaders.
through our teaching studio we are partnering with other public schools to share what is working our classrooms and reaching an additional 3800 students this academic year. We recently hosted a conference for educators at the ri convention center that drew over 300 educators from 7 states.
