This ministry is awesome! They have provided over 1000 diapers for babies in Lake and McHenry counties in the past year! They have clothed more than 60 children, have given over 100 referrals to other agencies for assistance and have referred over 65 women to a treatment center! I would say this isnGod working!
Thanks for all you do to our volunteers and our clients.

I am writing to share a story with you of a woman that called for help. We will call her Patty. Patty had just gotten out of treatment and was in desperate need of help finding a safe, sober home to stay until she could get back on her feet and get her child back with her. She called Leahs House and spoke with me regarding other houses that were available because LH is still in the stages of getting a house. We gave her three other places to contact and she eventually ended up in one. She kept in contact with lH to get clothes and diapers for her daughter to make it easier on her mother who was caring for the child. Patty eventually was ready to move on from the sober living house, she had a full time job and was going to school to complete her Certified Medical Assistant class. She graduated, got her a small one bedroom apartment and brought her daughter home. Her story is very similar to others that call for help to LH. We help any woman in crisis, whether it be recovery from substance abuse or another life crisis, we are there to guide and support along the way. LH is a Christian based organization and is grounded in the belief that I cant, God can.
Shari is very dedicated and passionate about helping others, that is obvious after speaking to her for just a few moments. Thank you for the invaluable help you offer to our communities!
This little organization helps me to make ends meet each month by providing diapers for my children, it helps me because diapers are expensive and I work two jobs to pay my rent. Their father stopped paying support so it is hard.
Leah's House provides outreach and awareness of the need for housing and service support for women who are experiencing a vulnerable time in their lives.
They help so many women. I know a friend of my sons who has been an alcoholic for most of her adult life. Shari got her into a treatment home & showed me how to help this women. Today she is sober. They will help so many women who need the help & support.
Wonderful!!! My sister Shari struggled with her addiction for many years and is now helping others through recovery. Great work....God Bless!

My younger sister Shari, what can I say, she has experienced the trials and tribulations and seen the struggles others have endured, you don't truly know the pain unless you have been there, this is how God has chosen her to do good work for those hurting physically and certainly mentally in their walk through substance abuse and recovery. Without Rebecca's house and now Leah's house these ladies would still be on the street, thank God for Shari and her dedication! God Bless!
LeahsHouse.org is a great, but small organization and has helped many people! Thanks for being there and making the world a better place!
Leahs house is such a blessing for women who are seeking to break the chains of addiction. It provides a safe structured enviroment to help women learn to live life without the chaos of addiction. I would recommend it to any female seeking a road to recovery.
Ive had trouble the last few years trying to get my life in order and get completely sober. I was running out of options and hope. I met sheri at a meeting and shared with me the option of leahs house. I was hesitant at first not excited about another treatment type environment but i gave it a chance and honestly the understanding i recieved from leahs house and the unconditional support was all i needed. It was true and genuine. It was i didnt receive at another center. If it wasnt for leahs i wouldnt be where i am today. I wouldnt have dound the strength and hope i now have in myself.
My name is Alexander and when I heard about Leah's house I was fully on board with these ladies. I also have gone through the process of living in a home to help me recover from drugs and alcohol. One of my main concerns is that there are not enough houses to help women that are also struggling with finding a safe place to recover from drugs and alcohol. Having been through this struggle and being in love with someone that also went through this struggle, I know first hand how much Leah's house can help people like ourselves that have a condition that needs to be addressed. Thank you for your time. God bless.
I have added an image of two people that are now very happy and free from the grip of drugs and alcohol thanks to the help of a safe place to live and the grace of God.
The work at Shari and the rest of the workers at Leah's house is phenomenal. There cause is one of the most humanitarian acts out there. Helping women that have had abuse mentally, physically, or emotionally from others, or have challenges that they need help to over come. This house helps get these women back on their feet and helps them transition back into life, with health, happiness, and a sense of self worth. This is a wonderful cause, and there should be more house like this throughout the World!
I am a board member and let me tell you why. I have years of medical care-giving and have a good sense of what heals and what doesn't. All my life I've been surrounded by the fallout of drug and/or alcohol addictions. So sad. Leah's House answers the call.
I see Leah's House as a place of redemption for those recovering from life. Not in thought only, but also spiritually and in practical life. LH provides a safe environment that allows one to regroup and discover those healing, even small, steps to gain their potential.
Hope and Leah's house are synonymous!
leah's House is a fantastik venture .
A plasce where women who have received less then steller treatment in life ,can come to for help. In mind ,body and spirit. They have the opportunity to lern how not to make some of the same mistakes, and avoid situations and people who may have lead them down the wrong path.
I dont have much money, but when i heard about this place through the founder Shari Shaver, i knew i had to help out with a donation. Shari is one of the most dedicated individuals i know.
And anything this God fearing woman sinks her teeth into is worth it .
So i had no hesitations. And you shouldnt either!
There is no other place like it in Lake County. This place provides help for abused women.
A place where you are not just a number, but a real human being with needs. Being serviced by people who care from the heart! Shari would have it no other way.
Leah's House is the place!
Leah's house provides superb help, a hand up for many who need a second chance. Shari is the guardian angel and for her work I am very thankful.
Leah's House is a critical residential recovery service which allows women an opportunity for healing and personal growth in a supportive transitional housing environment.

This service is greatly needed in the area, and this agency is a wonderful bridge to successful independent living for these women.
