Mission: It is the declared mission of this nonprofit corporation to be a model humane services provider in a financially sustainable modern facility providing safety, health care, nourishment and beneficial outlets for lea county's resident animals.

the lea county humane society ("lchs") is a non-profit organization affiliated with the humane society of the united states. Established in 1950, the lea county humane society is a group working for the wellness of all animals in lea county, new mexico. A board of directors sets the policies and oversees daily operations. Headquartered at the hobbs animal adoption center, lchs is involved in daily operations: all facets of adoption, including outreach rescue programming; intake of strays; provision of food, water, and shelter; socialization; and assistance in veterinary care such as vaccinations, spaying and neutering. In addition, lchs informs the public about the ramifications of animal cruelty, the consequences of neglect, and the benefits of proper care for all animals in lea county. From january 1st through december 31st, 2017, in hobbs 2,235 dogs and cats were rescued with 937 adopted and 668 returned to their owner. From january 1st through december 31st, 2017, in lovington 626 dogs and cats were rescued with 113 adopted and 156 returned to their owners. Partnering with amazing grace pet rescue, crazy dog lady of lea county pet rescue, and the city of hobbs, lchs substantially increased transport of animals to rescue centers in northern new mexico and colorado. Over 200 dogs have been rescued in this transport effort. Also with the help of amazing grace pet rescue, crazy dog lady of lea county pet rescue, and the cities of hobbs and lovington, lchs began a kennel sponsorship; individuals and businesses may sponsor a kennel in hobbs or in lovington for 120. 00 per month or 1,200. 00 per year.
