My daughter has been participating in the LAND Clubs since the third grade (she is now in the seventh grade). When I first signed her up, I thought it would be a great way for her to get some fresh air and maybe a little outdoor education. She would come home from the club meetings happy and chatting about everything she had learned that day (not to mention very often covered in dirt). She took over a corner of our garden to grow the plants that they talked about in the clubs. She became very knowledgeable about many plants and how to care for them and also lost her fear of bugs (spiders are still a different story). I found myself asking her advise about where certain plants should be placed and identifying bugs around the yard. She was also given the invaluable opportunity through LAND to experience the blessing of serving. Through LAND, she participated in the Alice Ferguson Foundation’s Potomac River Watershed Clean Up project, roadside clean up and the many other opportunities she was given to serve her community. She has been given a strong sense of community and the environment through her experiences with LAND and now enjoys assisting Garth and Amy Seely with the elementary kids. What a beautiful gift LAND has given my daughter, not to mention the positive affect these experiences will have on her future. Thank you, LAND!
