Causes: Homeless & Housing, Low-Income & Subsidized Rental Housing
Mission: The lamont house is sponsored by cedars of marin, which began in ross, california as a privately owned school of special needs children in 1919, and currently serves adults with developmental disabilities.
Programs: All of the lamont house residents enjoy going on group excursions in the house van, attending movies, dances, monday night bowling, participating in special olympics, and attending parties, picnics, and drumming circles with other friends. Some of the residents play the drums and everyone seems to enjoy playing music and dancing. We never miss the monthly dances put on by novato parks and recreation dept. Occasionally, while dinner is being prepared, the men will spontaneously start dancing. Most of the guys are wild for the beatles. Everyone at lamont house is encouraged to be friendly and supportive to his peers. The men seem to enjoy one another, often spending unstructured time together instead of alone in their respective rooms.
all of our residents have a sense of humor and there is a lot of good-natured teasing among the residents.
