Programs: Lakes and prairies head start is a federal and state funded program for children ages 3 and 4. The program offers services to enrolled children and families, giving priority to limited income families and children with special needs. Head start programs offer a nurturing environment that supports the healthy growth and development of each child in the context of family, culture and community. The number of kids served this fiscal year was 297.
child care aware is funded through federal, state and local contributions in order to provide community based services to: 1) assist families in their search for quality child care 2) support facilities and individuals that provide care for children and 3) build connections in communities to generate understanding of current child care issues.
the family & community services department provides assistance to households in achieving their goals of financial stability and family security through a variety of programs and initiatives including 1) housing assistance 2)financial literacy & asset development 3) application assistance. Programs are funded through a variety of federal, state and foundation grants as well as local contributions.
