Mission: Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat invites people from all faiths and walks of life to work together in partnership, building houses with families in need.
Results: Since 1991, Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity has partnered with over 14,000 volunteers and sponsors to build 52 homes alongside local partner families. These families have put in nearly 20,000 hours of "sweat equity" by helping to build their home, other Habitat homes, working at the Restore, helping with mailers and more. Our Partner Families have also participated in our award winning partner family education program, classes that are designed to give these families the knowledge to build a long term budget and the knowledge to break their cycle of poverty. A decent home is much more than a roof over your head, it empowers families to improve their education, financial situation, health, sense of self-worth and more.
