Causes: Philanthropy, Private Grantmaking Foundations
Programs: The philanthropic focus of the kohn charitable trust is (a) to promote the well-being of children who are underprivileged and underrepresented, through collaborative educational and health initiatives and programs that promote future self-sufficiency; (b) to assist those who have little or no voice in society through empowerment and representation; (c) to aid those that improve the quality of life of intellectually disabled individuals and to aid their empowerment; and (d) to use science to improve human health by advancing new discovery and health outcome initiatives. Consistent with the mission of the kohn charitable trust we supported the activitities of the nurse-family partnership (nfp) and the child care services association (ccsa). In 2017 we provided the nfp with a grant to expand their outreach in north carolina. Similarly, we provided a matching grant to the ccsa to address obesity health issues in young children by promoting a sound nutritional diet and exercise.
