Knom Radio Mission Inc

Programs: Knom radio mission exists to be a conduit for encountering christ, embracing culture, empowering growth, and engaging the listener in western alaska. The work of knom is steeped in its values: to be a friend and companion, provide respectful service based on catholic ideals. Knom's listeners (numbering 20,000-30,000 people) are spread across 100,000 square miles of remote alaska. Most listeners live in villages along the bering sea coast and eastward toward the alaskan interior. Knom has calculated that nearly $79,046. 89 of expenses are saved because these services are performed by contracted volunteers (net after stipends, living allowances & fellowships). This amount is not included as either income or expense.

the new nautel nd25 transmitter was installed in june 2018. This event capped the multi-year, multi-phase digital expansion project begun in 2011. Nautel transmitters typically last 20 years of constant use if operating in harsh conditions like those of western alaska. knom continues to serve the people of western alaska. Even though internet has become available to remote villages, the cost for service is prohibitive for much of knom's listeners. Radio remains an important source for faith, inspiration, news and education.
