I can't count how many times i have come in touch with young people whose lives have been positively changed by this foundation. I think they have made a significant improvement in our community and continue to do so.
I loved every moment of working with KLD. I got the chance to help kids with severe learning disabilities accomplish things they never had imagined they would do, things we all take for granted such as read, and speak in front of their peers. I got the chance to work with kids who went from hating schools to sleeping in their KLD uniforms so they wouldn't be late to school in the morning. I have seen kids come into this school feeling like they are alone in the world, and finding a family where for the first time in their lives they feel loved and worthy. I don't have the space or time to list every life that has been changed by this organization. This is a truly incredible place where education and love walk hand in hand everyday.
My son was in 7th grade when KLD opened it's doors for a school. Christopher is diagnosed ADHD, ODD, Aspbergers and severe social anxiety and anger disorder. When he was little, we went through 18 day cares in just a few months, 27 days of suspension in the first few months of kindergarten, we were eventually placed in a
im a student that goes to the school the is run by KLD ... they are awesome people and help many kids that with out this school would not graduate.
I have witnessed the impact that KLD has had on many young people over the past 6 years. Many lives have been changed and many at-risk youth have been served.
