Mission: KRT was founded in 1991 to pursue the conversion of the Oregon California and Eastern Railway into a recreational trail. Additionally, we successfully lobbied Oregon parks and Recreation Department to take over the administration of the trail. After successfully accomplishing the above items, we have shifted our focus to helping the state develop the trail. We supplement state funding by applying for private and public grants, fund raisers such as National Trails Day and member dues. We supplement state labor through group volunteers recruiting various youth groups to accomplish specific projects supervising community service workers. We work hand in hand with the state in drafting development plans for the trail.
