I've been a foster parent for Kitty Devore Rescue Network for over 10 years. From the beginning, the founders were determined to run their organization with the utmost ethical and financial responsibility possible. They are truly non-profit - all donations and adoption fees go towards actual rescue missions from the Devore shelter jurisdiction and care for the many cats in foster care while they await adoption. In fact, like most well-run 501(c)(3)s, they make the best use of resources on a shoestring budget which, every year, teeters into the red. Because WA state is a better environment for adoption, KD didn't hesitate to get me set up as a foster parent after being thoroughly vetted. Staffed by a network of volunteers, these former deathrow inmates are given an opportunity for a happy life with a real home and family of their own. It has been my honor to work with this rescue and have so far found great homes for nearly 200 cats.
One look through Kitty Devore's photo gallery tells their story: The photos of happy, healthy felines is a clear indication that Kitty Devore makes the cats in their care their top priority. They work diligently to find lifelong, loving forever homes that these cats deserve. NAVS provided a grant to help spay/neuter cats taken rescued from a high-kill shelter. Thanks to Kitty Devore those cats have a second chance at a long, happy life.
