Mission: Mentoring program for children and youth
Programs: Mentoring children ages 6-18; in 2017 seven mentory units were recruited, screened, trained and matched with seven children. An additional 31 matches were supported with case management services monthly social/rec activities offered for mentors and youth; objective: youth making positive life choices
century reading buddies: 18 adult volunteers and 26 substitutes ate lunch with matched first graders and read with them twice monthly through the school year. Objective: provide one to one attention and encourage the love of reading among children who receive little attention or help to read at home.
nevis reading buddies: 21 adult volunteers and 13 substitutes were matched with first graders to read with them for 25-30 weekly through the school year. Objective: provide one to one attention and encourage the love of reading among children in nevis elementary school who need additional reading practice.
