Mission: Kinneret council on aging, inc. (the "council") is a nonprofit organization formed in 1970 as a constituent agency of the jewish federation of greater orlando, inc. To meet the unique geriatric needs of the jewish community and to provide housing and supportive services to jewish seniors and the central florida community at large. To accomplish its purpose, the council has sponsored the development and operation of the kinneret apartments and resident programs providing nutrition (through subsidized kosher meals), socialization, transportation, and educational and religious events. The leadership of the council is firm in its commitment to maintain an environment which is supportive of the jewish identity and informed by jewish values, to serve the entire community as a resource in geriatric care and knowledge, and to serve rich and poor alike with caring and excellence.
Programs: Kinneret council on aging provides subsidized services to the tenants of the kinneret apartment buildings. These services include a food pantry for all residents, entertainment, socialization, education and supportive services such as transportation, shopping and housekeeping assistance for the residents at the low-income elderly complex. The organization also provides some select services that are focused on the specific needs of its jewish residents.
