I have been involved with Be the Change of the Florida Keys since 2004. I was the Prevention Coordinator at KWHS for two years.The many programs such as Challenge Day, Lunch Buddies, BIGS, Beach Clean-Ups, Student Awareness Day, 8th Grade Transition and many others provide our students with a chance to share and help others. This is the only program that allows students to help their peers through the many bonding experiences that it promotes. Today I am the Lower Keys Prevention Coordinator for Be the Change of the Florida Keys and I am extremely excited about the many new programs that we are going to establish. They include an after school Career Program for Juniors and Seniors in High School, a reading program at the elementary schools as well as Peer Mediation Programs at all schools. We will be partnering with as many local non-profits as well as businesses who wish to help the children of Monroe County.
