Programs: 2011 Green Housing Summit Educational conference for those interested in affordable green residential construction. Durbin Estates. Working with Western Kentucky University to create an integrated green infrastructure at a 16-acre site called Durbin Estates. The project will demonstrate low-impact development techniques that absorb, filter, and reuse storm and rainwater and can be broadly replicated. Franklin County Passive House Legislative Build. With Lt Governor Mongiardo and other elected officials, Kentucky Habitat for Humanity will construct a Passive House on the grounds of the state capitol. Development of Green Bank. Kentucky Habitat for Humanity is planning a Green Bank Program modeled after the Green Bank of Kentucky Program, which uses education, engineering analysis, and building improvements to promote energy efficiency in state buildings. KyHfH's Green Bank will provide low-interest loans to help Habitat affiliates build greener houses.
