Mission: Based on the belief that education is the foundation and channel for permanent change in attitudes and behaviors, KBEP promotes respectful relationships by teaching relationship violence prevention.
Results: Since 2001 the Katie Brown Educational Program has educated 60,000 children and youth across southeast Massachusetts and Rhode Island to recognize, avoid, and prevent relationship violence (bullying, cyber-bullying, and dating violence). KBEP has grown from reaching 600 fifth through twelfth grade students in its first year to its current annual reach of about 6000. KBEP teaches in both urban and suburban school districts, reaching students across a wide range of socio-economic levels.
