Mission: We believe kansans, working together, can build a state full of thriving, inclusive, and just communities. We're working for a future where:- all kansans have the resources they need to support themselves and raise healthy families. - all kansans can participate fully in the community under equal protection of the law. - all kansans benefit from a fair and effective judicial system. Kansas appleseed works with community partners to understand the root causes of problems, support strong grassroots coalitions, and advocate for comprehensive solutions so all kansans can reach their full potential. In other words: justice for all.
Programs: We lead a statewide roundtable to coordinate policy research, programs, and advocacy related to childhood hunger in kansas. Our in-depth analysis of childhood hunger data guides local efforts accross the state to expand access to nutritious food for children in low-income families. Thousands have benefitted in school districts and towns across the state.
our advocacy resulted in a large reduction of out-of-home placements for youth in the juvenile justice system and over 3. 5 million in reinvestment dollars for evidence-based prevention and intervention services. We supported the formation of progeny, a youth-led youth advocacy group working towards juvenile justice reforms.
we formed and now lead a statewide coalition to serve as an independent voice for reform of the child welfare system in kansas. We connect with and raise up the voices of those who have been directly affected. Our in-depth analysis of system data will inform our advocacy efforts in the coming year.
