Mission: JPA's mission is to improve the social and emotional well-being and functioning of vulnerable children so they can reach their fullest potential at home, in school, and in our communities. This is accomplished by providing therapeutic counseling services to at-risk children and families, conducting research, sharing knowledge, and providing expert consultation and guidance to others serving these children and families. The vision of JPA is vulnerable children and families will have access to the highest quality of services.
Target demographics: Young children affected by trauma and abuse
Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 1,900 children, 1983 parents, and 146 teachers in 22 schools
Geographic areas served: The South and West Sides of Chicago
Programs: One-on-one, in-school and small group counseling/therapy for K-8th graders; professional development for teachers and school staff; workshops for parents; consulting with schools on creating a trauma-informed environment.
