Causes: Education
Mission: Justice and Soul provides a path to a new life for sexually exploited and at risk youth. Justice and Soul empowers trafficked and at-risk young women and men to become confident and self-sufficient individuals through professional training in cosmetology.
Results: Since 2014, we have established a high-end, western-style salon and academy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Over 26 students have participated in our programs, with over 80% graduation rate. Graduates are working in salons through Phnom Penh (as well as our own) and one graduate has establish his own salon and academy working with marginalized youth. Plans are now underway to establish our first salon/academy in the Seattle, Washington area to address the needs of sexually exploited and at-risk youth in our local community. To date, none of your students have returned to sex work.
Target demographics: provide financial support and vocational development for at-risk youth and survivors of sex trafficking.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 20 students and their families along with the lives of our partnering NGOs and Non-profits.
Geographic areas served: Cambodia and Washington State
Programs: Western trained education in cosmetology, including hair, skin, makeup, and nails. We build confidence, self-esteem, and vocational skills. Our comprehensive two-year program includes employment, business skill development, english classes, and customer service training. Our graduates work both in our salons and partnering salons earning significantly higher pay than others in the same industry.
