Causes: Women, Womens Service Clubs
Mission: The junior league of pelham is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
Programs: Community grants are made available to community programs and projects in pelham and surrounding areas that address their focus on the areas of healthy families. The president's award is an educational scholarship given annually to a graduating senior of pelham high school who has demonstrated outstanding community service. Through the jlp backpack program, we provide 25 of the neediest families who attend the boys & girls club of new rochelle with totes full of healthy food to sustain them over a weekend. These families rely on subsidized or free meals in school during the week, but on the weekends they are left with no assistance to sustain themselves. Without this jlp program, these families simply would not have enough to eat.
