Mission: The principal goals of juneau climbing and recreation are to promote physical education for our youth and encourage indoor climbing to improve one's strength and balance. We hope to maintain a high degree of flexibility in overseeing the rock dump's space to provide greater opportunities and respond to the community's ever-growing interests.
Programs: Rock dump operation - juneau climbing & recreation (jcr) operated the rock dump climbing gym. This benefited the community members, school groups, and other non-profit organizations that use the facility. The facility serviced 8,000 individual climber days,plus 40 birthday parties (estimate 450 visitors).
toddler time - open gym playtime for toddlers. Program started in february 2013. Runs 3 hours, 2 days per week from september through may. 50 parents, 300 visits.
community events - the rock dump hosted an annual showing of a climbing film at centennial hall - 200 community members were in attendance. The gym also hosted 3 seasonal climbing competitions, which fosters youth climbing and enthusiasm in a healthy activity. Estimated 120 participants and 90 spectators between the three events.
